The Romería de San Isidro Labrador is among the largest and most colourful pilgrimages on the island. Decorated ox-carts roll through La Orotava as participants in traditional Canary costume hand out local wine, bread and stews to the crowds, accompanied by folk groups and timple music. It is held shortly after the Corpus Christi carpets, making mid-June a packed festive period in the town.
