San Andrés marks the day the year’s new wine is opened, celebrated across the north with tastings of the young vintage paired with roasted chestnuts. Icod de los Vinos adds its famous tablas de San Andrés, when youngsters hurtle down the town’s steep cobbled streets on greased wooden boards. Puerto de la Cruz holds its own noisy “arrastre de cacharros” the same night, dragging tins and pots through the streets.
