On 3 May the rival neighbourhoods of Los Realejos stage one of Europe's most spectacular pyrotechnic duels, the Fuegos del Carmen y la Concepción.

Los Realejos claims the highest concentration of fireworks festivals in Europe, and the Día de la Cruz is its showpiece. The neighbourhoods of El Carmen and La Concepción compete with rival pyrotechnic displays that light up the night sky over the valley. Roads and parking around the town get congested, so plan to arrive well before dark.
