The ancient laurisilva (laurel forest) of Anaga is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The El Pijaral integral reserve — the circular trail to the Cabezo del Tejo viewpoint (PRA-72) — is the most protected part, so access is capped at 45 people per day via a free timed permit. You book on Tenerife ON (one application covers up to 5 people); slots release Mondays at 07:00 on a roughly 14-day window, and weekend dates go first. Organised commercial tours are not allowed — individuals and private groups only.
Other Anaga reserves with access control include Ijuana, Roques de Anaga and Monte de Aguirre.
